Life Force Theory in English Literature

  In English literature , the Life Force Theory is especially important in understanding the philosophy of George Bernard Shaw , particularly his play Man and Superman . Life Force Theory in English Literature The Life Force is Shaw’s idea that there is a powerful, creative energy operating in nature. This force continuously pushes living beings toward evolution, improvement, higher intelligence, and greater perfection . Shaw did not regard human life as meaningless or controlled entirely by fate. He believed that life itself has a purpose , and the Life Force works through human beings to achieve that purpose. 1.
